G-patch domain-containing protein 4 localizes to both the nucleoli and Cajal bodies and regulates cell growth and nucleolar structure

Ribosome formation occurs in the nucleolus through interaction with various trans-acting factors. Therefore, hundreds of nucleolar proteins have a function ribosome formation, although precise each protein is largely unclear. We previously identified an uncharacterized protein, G-patch domain-containing 4 (GPATCH4 or G4), as component pre-ribosomes purified either nucleolin (NCL) NPM1. In this present study, we sought to clarify localization and G4. that G4 localizes both Cajal body. Although knockdown did not significant effect on pre-ribosomal RNA processing, cell growth decrease. Interestingly, also decreased number fibrillar center dense regions inside nucleolus. This data has novel involved regulation structure.
